About the Program

Category: Libraries (Best in Category)

Year: 2018

In 2017, in an effort to expand access to existing Broward County Library services, develop new intergovernmental collaborations and strengthen current ones, Broward County Library partnered with Broward County Transit and Broward County Parks and Recreation to offer bus riders and park visitors a “Free Music – Right Here, Right Now” program that provides access to a free downloadable and streaming music/music video service that is provided by Broward County Library. While free downloadable and streaming music was an existing service, this new program improved customer experiences on buses and in parks. Commuters could use the free WiFi available on the buses and in parks to access songs and albums that would make their bus rides more enjoyable. Park customers could enhance their visit by creating on-the-spot playlists for exercising, relaxing or otherwise enjoying the beauty of Broward County’s parks. Through the “Free Music – Right Here, Right Now” program, Broward County Library provided access to free music in 300 Broward County Transit buses and in two Broward County parks. The “Free Music – Right Here, Right Now” program is an excellent example of the innovative expansion of the library’s free music service and successful intergovernmental partnerships.
