Baltimore County Department of Aging (BCDA or Agency) developed a year-long "Be Mobile Drive Safe" initiative for older adults to highlight the importance of older adult driver safety. Utilizing a multifaceted approach, BCDA utilized technology to increase awareness of the need for safe driving while providing concrete measures in our 20 senior centers to assist older adults. Throughout the year, individuals were offered the opportunity to participate in a range of informative offerings, including an Expo, publications, health screenings and seminars, geared to optimizing the travel safety of the County’s older residents. "Be Mobile Drive Safe" Educational Sessions: topics which were presented to older adults in the county's 20 senior centers included Fall Prevention, screenings such as vision, hearing and blood pressure, driver safety courses by AARP and others, vehicle safety, CarFit programs and more. The "Be Mobile Drive Safe" initiative could not have been accomplished without the successful partnerships with County agencies, private companies and non-profits.
