In 2016 the Automated Incident Reporting System project moved the County of San Bernardino from an antiquated paper reporting system to an electronic model. The new model took advantage of technology by creating a system that allowed the Countyâs security guard company to complete incident reports electronically. These electronic incident reports are reviewed and approved by the guard company supervisors and then submitted to the County electronically for review and follow up. This has given the County the ability to track security related incidents by department and location. The strategy and subsequent achievement of the project was to leverage technologies to create a paperless incident report system that was automated, could be used anywhere and on any device (i.e. computer, tablet, etc.) and take advantage of current software licensing and hardware that the County owns. The goal was to provide a system that speeds up the process of reporting security incidents and get the reports to the proper parties via email, in a timely fashion, with the ability to store them electronically and report on incident type by location and department.
