About the Program

Category: Human Services (Best in Category)

Year: 2015

The Aspinwall new construction and revitalization project is an innovative affordable housing development that provides a family-driven, prevention-oriented and holistic environment for low-income individuals, families, and seniors of Boulder County. Comprised of both new construction homes and revitalized homes, the project ambitiously saw the development of 72 new, energy-efficient units for seniors, families and individuals and saw the revitalization of 95 units within the Boulder County Department of Housing & Human Services (BCDHHS) and Boulder County Housing Authority’s (BCHA) existing City of Lafayette portfolio. The Aspinwall project sets the high water mark for affordable housing development through an intentional investment in the social health of the Boulder County community. As part of the supportive human services available to residents, both onsite at the new construction units and through available case management at the revitalized units, residents are provided with holistic services that span the pillars of family stability—housing stability, employment and income stability, access to adequate food and nutrition, health and wellbeing, safety, and education. Boulder County believes that everyone has the right to live in a safe, affordable, and decent home, and the Aspinwall project has provided an invaluable community asset that has helped our community become more self-sufficient, sustainable, and resilient.
