The San Diego County Air Pollution Control District’s (District) Compliance Inspection videos are an innovative too to provide assistance, training, and education to the regulated facilities utilizing methods made possible through today’s technology. The District has a comprehensive Small Business Assistance Program designed to educate and provide assistance to regulated facilities to prevent non-compliance and promote self-inspections to ensure ongoing compliance. Traditional techniques for assistance have included workshops, written advisories, mailed or on the County’s website, and individual site visits. The Compliance Inspection Video are an additional mechanism to educate the regulated community by utilizing available technology.. The instructional videos are 1 to 2 minute YouTube clips posted on the County’s website. The first set of videos consists of ten segments providing specific tips on how to conduct inspections for gasoline station operators. Top priority was given to these operations due to the high incidence of non-compliance. The instructional videos are advantageous because they allow around-the-clock assistance to a facility when District staff is not available, they serve as a refresher course after attending the workshops, and they help those who have not yet attended a workshop.
