The Annual Educate & Celebrate Festival is one of the largest community assistance events in the Fourth Supervisorial District. It was created in 2007 to meet the unmet needs of the residents in unincorporated Whittier and to also educate local residents on the many resources available and provide important tools for their families. Through this annual event, thousands of children and families are provided with free health care at the eventâs health fair, free food from an outdoor grocery store, haircuts, clothing, parenting classes, and assistance in other basic needs services such as federal assistance for food, childcare, and housing. This event takes place at the end of the summer and is a collaboration of the Department of Parks and Recreation and the office of Supervisor Don Knabe.
