The Gloucester County Resource Council is a network of 45 human service organization in the county who meet monthly to share ideas, information, and resources. Cooperative efforts are planned and initiated to maximize community resources and minimize duplication of services. By meeting monthly to share information and resources as well as build an awareness of current services and programs, the cooperative creation of new opportunities and resources results. One excellent example is evidenced by the Resource Councilâs Affordable /Workforce Housing Initiative. During 2006-2007 the Gloucester Resource Council identified affordable/workforce housing as an issue needing to be addressed in the county. Council members determined that they needed to: become more knowledgeable about the issue and need of affordable workforce housing in Gloucester; and recommend specific actions to address identified needs. Through a collaborative process, the council worked to address the three areas listed above resulting in the completion of a Gloucester County Affordable Housing and Needs Assessment report with over 20 specific recommendations for action.
