Solano County’s history of effective and results-based collaboration set the stage for a quantum leap into a new era of integrated early mental/developmental health services, backed by “braided” funding and grounded in congruent goals for the healthy development of children aged 0-5. Over the past decade, First 5 Solano children and Families Commission has led countywide efforts to establish a “blueprint” for comprehensive, cost-beneficial, and measurably effective early mental/developmental health services for young children and their families reducing the likelihood of child maltreatment associated with mental health problems and increasing the odds that children will reach kindergarten with developmental delays already addressed.
