Category: Children and Youth (Best in Category)
Year: 2009
This 3-year project helps young people who serve as members to acquire leadership and communications skills. Mentors gain an understanding and commit to the value of community service and civic involvement, assisting those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to improve their academic, family, and social relationships. In addition, this program seeks to strengthen partnerships with other youth-serving institutions, including universities and groups that provide youth mentoring research and programming.
