About Timothy Boncoskey

Tim Boncoskey serves Assessor, Paul D. Petersen as the appointed leader for a professional staff of 310 with an annual operating budget in excess of $24 million and a new $25 million CAMA Project. The office annually notices and administers over 1.7 million real and personal property parcels/accounts with full cash value of more than $508 billion in 2018.

Tim joined Maricopa County Assessor Keith E. Russell's administration in July 2006 after 17 years with the State of Arizona. He also worked as a senior budget analyst for the Fairfax County Office of Management and Budget in Virginia before beginning his Arizona State government career.

Mr. Boncoskey began his state service working for the Governor's Office of Strategic Planning and Budgeting where he analyzed various agency budgets including the Department of Revenue for fiscal year 1991 and 1992. He served as an initial management staff member in the Governor's Office for Excellence in Government from 1993 to 1995, becoming Executive Director in 1994. He was appointed in January of 1995 as Assistant Director for the Management Services Division in the Department of Administration (ADOA) and held various executive management positions in ADOA until he joined Maricopa County. Tim served three Governors in his seven years as the Chairperson on the Governor's Regulatory Review Council from 1996 to 2003.

He received his Bachelors Degree in Public Administration in 1983 from the University of Arizona and his Masters Degree in Public Affairs in 1985 from the LBJ School at the University of Texas and attended the Governor's Center at Duke University Strategic Leadership Program for State Executives in 1999.

Since engaging in the assessment field, Tim was elected President of the Arizona Chapter of the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) for 2007-2008 and 2011. He was also selected as a national chapter representative in 2009. Tim was appointed by the IAAO President in 2011 to serve as Chairman of the Major Jurisdictions Council and Local Host Committee for the 2011 Conference and Chairman of the Councils and Sections Committee of IAAO in 2012.

He was selected IAAO Member of the Year in 2012 and was enshrined in Maricopa County's Pillars of Honor in 2013 for that achievement. Tim was elected by the IAAO membership as an Executive Board member out of Region 1 (Western North America and the Pacific Rim) for 2013 - 2015. In 2014, Tim, along with four other IAAO Board members, was tasked with developing the 2020 Vision and Strategic Plan for IAAO (2015 - 2020).

In 2016 and again in 2017, Boncoskey was recognized with the IAAO Stacy Ford Award for being the associations most outstanding Representative and the Kenneth J. McCarren Award for recruiting the most new IAAO members. In November of 2016, Tim was elected by the IAAO membership as their Vice President for 2017 and now serves as President Elect for 2018.

Tim lives in Phoenix and has three children.
