About Susan Muranishi

Ms. Muranishi has over 35 years of experience working for Alameda County. She is the first woman to be appointed as county administrator in Alameda County and was the first Asian-American woman county administrator in California. Prior to her appointment in 1995, Muranishi served as the assistant county administrator. She is an active supporter and member of several diverse community and nonprofit organizations including the Safe Passages/Youth Ventures Joint Powers Authority. She is also a founding member of the California Asian Public Administrators Network and Caucus of Elected Asians (PANACEA). She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. in the Social Sciences. Muranishi resides in Oakland with her husband and has two sons.
