Stephen Amos

Stephen Amos is the Chief of the Jails Division at the National Institute of Corrections within the U.S. Department of Justice. He has directed frontline training, technical assistance, information dissemination, program planning, and policy development for the past six years in support of the nation’s jails and detention facilities at the federal, state, local and tribal levels. His executive leadership experience includes Deputy Director of the Corrections Program Office; the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics; California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation; State of Maryland Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention; and the Oregon Department of Corrections.
