Sean Higginbotham

Sean Higginbotham is the IT Director for Cascade County, Montana, a role he has excelled in since 2015. Sean's journey with the county began in 2005 when he joined as a Network Engineer, bringing a wealth of experience in IT and telecommunications. In 2024, he earned his Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification, showcasing his commitment to advancing cybersecurity and IT governance.

Sean is actively involved in shaping the future of technology at the state and national levels. He serves as a member of the Montana Information Technology Board, where he helps guide state agencies, the legislative branch, the judicial branch, and local governments in developing and deploying intergovernmental IT resources. The board also advises the Department of Administration on statewide IT standards, policies, strategic planning, and budgeting.

In addition, Sean is a Past Chairman of the Montana Local Government Information Technology Group and an active member of the National Association of Counties (NACo) Technology Advisory Council. He also participates in the NACo Tech Exchange, collaborating with leaders nationwide to address emerging technology challenges and foster innovation.

Before joining Cascade County, Sean gained extensive experience as a Network Engineer with Advanced IT Services, a Senior Network Administrator with SoFast Communications, and a Network Operations Manager with Montana Online Communications Company. His leadership, technical expertise, and dedication to advancing IT services continue to make a significant impact at every level of his work.
