About Rebecca Carter

Rebecca Carter is a communications professional with almost ten years of combined experience in both the public and private sectors. In her current role as a Public Information Officer for Mecklenburg County, NC, Rebecca is responsible for coordinating public relations, marketing and communications for multiple County departments and working on large county-wide projects like Tobacco-Free Meck and LivableMeck.  Prior to working for Mecklenburg County, she served as Public Information Officer for the Town of Indian Trail, NC and worked in marketing and public relations for the City of Greensboro, NC and in the events business. 
 
During her career, Rebecca has designed and implemented public relations and advertising programs, incorporating all facets of social media and traditional outreach; facilitated and executed press events, media alerts, press releases and media management strategies; developed and maintained reporter relationships; developed branding and long range communication strategic plans; counseled staff and executives on media relations and public appearances; planned for and handled crisis communications; and all around handled every conceivable facet of communications.
 
Rebecca has a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She currently serves as the Second Vice President of NACIO (National Association of County Information Officers) and as a board member for NC3C (North Carolina City and County Communicators.)
