Commissioner, Ramsey County, Minn.
Commissioner Jim McDonough was elected to the Ramsey County, Minn. Board of Commissioners in 2000 and currently serves as its chair. In 2007, Commissioner McDonough encouraged all Ramsey County departments to assess their role in sexual violence prevention and in his capacity as then-president of the Association of Minnesota Counties urged all 87 Minnesota counties to do the same. In 2008, he was recognized with an AWARE Award from the Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault for his "outstanding dedication to raising awareness about sexual violence" and he continues to advocate for victims today. In addition, he has served on a variety of committees ranging from youth services to mental health to supporting aging populations.
