About Dr. Donna Betts
Dr. Donna Betts is a Clinical Research Advisor for Creative Forces, National Endowment for the Arts’ (NEA) Military Healing Arts Network, an initiative of the NEA in partnership with the U.S. Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs and state and local arts agencies that serves the special needs of military patients and veterans with traumatic brain injury and psychological health conditions, and their families and caregivers. Creative Forces places creative arts therapies at the core of patient-centered care at 11 clinical sites throughout the country, plus a telehealth program. Dr. Betts is past president of the American Art Therapy Association and holds a PhD in art education and art therapy from Florida State University and a master of arts in art therapy degree from George Washington University. Dr. Betts was on the faculty of the George Washington Graduate Art Therapy Program as an associate professor and research director and is an award-winning researcher and author. She is the co-author of "Art Therapy Research: A Practical Guide" (with Dr. Sarah Deaver).
