About Cortney Sanders
Cortney Sanders is a Senior Policy Analyst with the Center’s State Fiscal Policy (SFP) division, where she focuses on state fiscal policy through a racial equity lens. Since joining the Center as a State Policy Fellow, Sanders has researched a range of state fiscal policy issues, including K-12 and early childhood education funding, juvenile justice reform and reinvestment, courtroom fines and fees, and broader fiscal policies to help raise state revenue. She also provides technical support to our State Priorities Partnership to build partners’ capacity to conduct research and analysis through an equitable lens. Prior to joining the Center, she worked for Poverty Solutions in Ann Arbor, Michigan and the Aspen Institute as a William Randolph Hearst Fellow. Sanders holds a bachelor’s degree in Government from the University of Texas, Austin and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
