As the 116th Congress works to reauthorize a surface transportation bill and considers developing comprehensive infrastructure legislation, a strong federal-state-local partnership is critical. Owning 45 percent of public roads, almost 40 percent of the National Bridge Inventory and operating 78 percent of all public transit systems, county priorities must be included in any federal transportation and infrastructure package.
