As Congress considers reauthorizing a federal surface transportation bill, county priorities must be adequately addressed given their stake as substantial owners of roads (46 percent) and bridges (38 percent) across the country. During the 2019 NACo Legislative Conference, county leaders hosted a Capitol Hill briefing about the unique infrastructure challenges local governments face and about how the federal government can implement public policy to improve and update our national transportation infrastructure system.
