This session will give counties an understanding of mega-regions (i.e. large networks of metropolitan regions that are combined because they may have similar economic, cultural, environmental and infrastructure systems) and how they can help counties to grow their economies by improving their transportation connectivity and mobility. It will explore strategies for multijurisdictional cooperation, stakeholder involvement, freight movement and transportation infrastructure investments. The panel will discuss national and international trends and highlight case studies of mega-region planning and investment by counties.
