Many smaller and rural communities across the country have been historically reliant upon one dominant industry or employer for generations. How can rural places reinvent and diversify local economies to become more resilient to economic shock and create lasting economic development? This session will explore these questions, using lessons learned from transitioning coal and timber communities as case examples.
