Year: 2011

The Youth and family Guide to College and Beyond was developed as a tool to be used for early organization and academic preparation to apply for college. It includes information regarding financial and academic support programs available to former foster youth in college. The guide serves as a resource that can be given to 7th or 8th graders and can be used throughout high school. The guide has been an overwhelming success. Foster youth, caregivers, families, school professionals, and parents of non-foster youth have found the guide useful. It has sparked conversations about life after the foster care system for the youth and has helped them to envision their future goals with hope and positivity.
