Through its World Music & Cultural Arts Series, 31 concerts and major art exhibits were held featuring internationally renowned performers, photography exhibited in the Smithsonian Institution, and a multimedia exhibit. Among the goals of the series are to expand the County Library’s reputation and work in building social capital by promoting diverse arts and culture as bridges to understanding, learning, advocacy for all the residents. The library works closely with traditional and modern community partners to demonstrate to the broader community that libraries offer far more than books. San Diego County Library customers are introduced to the musical, cultural, and artistic diversity available to them through the library’s concerts and art exhibits.
