Creating a diverse and inclusive environment is vital to the success of the County of San Diego and closely connected to our mission of providing exceptional customer service to the communities we serve. The Department of Human Resources, Talent Development Division designed the Employee Whole Self Workshop as the main collaborative activity during Countywide Customer Service HEART (Helpfulness, Expertise, Attentiveness, Respect, and Timeliness) week activities. This learning experience encouraged employees to engage in meaningful interactive opportunities that explored the direct correlation between providing exceptional customer service and nurturing our authentic selves physically, emotionally, culturally, spiritually and intellectually. To provide world class service we first need to understand what it means to take care of our whole self. This event served as the culminating activity where employees networked, explored ways to nurture their “whole best self” and created a sense of community, connection and belonging among participants.
