Web content management (WCM) allows content editors to easily create and publish content while maintaining a consistent style throughout a website. Oakland County uses Microsoft SharePoint 2013 as its WCM tool to manage content, structure, and deployment of its site. SharePoint 2013 mainstream support will end in 2018. The County’s Information Technology (OC-IT) department has begun an on-going initiative to be WCM agnostic when updating or creating new site features. This will minimize the application development effort required when implementing a new or updated WCM.
