About the Program

Category: Personnel Management, Employment and Training (Best in Category)

Year: 2018

Coconino County serves approximately 140,000 residents and provides essential services that create resilient, healthy and safe communities. Our organization’s commitment to public service is further demonstrated by innovative programs designed not only to benefit our citizens but our employees as well. With this in mind, in Fiscal Year 2017 our Board of Supervisors approved the launch of a new program called Volunteer Time Off (VTO). The purpose of the program is to support community engagement service activities that are meaningful, purposeful and positively enhance the communities in which we live and work. On the one hand, the program allows employees to provide service to those in need and give back to our communities, thus enriching their quality of life. On the other hand, VTO is a way to enhance our employees’ work-life balance because it allows them to volunteer for 16 hours a year during regularly scheduled work hours for a designated charitable organization in their community.
