The Maricopa County Flood Control District (FCD) manages an area that covers more than 9,000 square miles. The Flood Control District owns, operates, and maintains 83 flood control structures, including 22 dams/flood retarding structures totaling 64 miles in length, 150 miles of channels and levees, 250 acres of basins, and 40 acres of general flood hazard mitigation property. The FCD Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Division is responsible for maintaining these structures and facilities and uses approximately 100 vehicles and 90 pieces of equipment in their maintenance activities. In order to keep the vehicles and equipment in top working order, the Resource Shop provides over 500 routine, preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance repairs on an annual basis. In March 2014, the Flood Control District launched the Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance Request Tracking System (VERT). VERT is a user-friendly and intuitive web-based application that provides a convenient and consistent method to enter, schedule, and track vehicle and equipment maintenance requests. This innovative application also communicates the status of the maintenance request and the date of completion to the requesting party via automated email messages. Moreover, VERT manages, compiles, and reports on the service requests that are essential to fleet and facilities management and provides alerts to the O&M Resource Shop staff when a new request has been submitted and when a request has not been assigned to a technician within 24 hours.
