About the Program
Category: County Resiliency (Best in Category)
Year: 2012
With the Tire Amnesty Program, residents in Pike County can now get rid of their old and unusable tires. The program is beneficial to both the county and its residents. People and businesses with old tires can take them to the Pike County Landfill or, depending on the amount of tires, can make arrangements with their local magistrateâs office to have the tires picked up by Pike County Solid Waste. The program is administered through the Kentucky Division of Waste Management and saves the county between $75,000 and $100,000 because the cost to dispose of the tires is waived by the state during the amnesty period.
