In Suffolk County, the safety of our young residents is a strong priority. The Task Force to Prevent Family Violence, managed through the County Executive’s Office, took a strong stand in 2015 to arm families with resources to combat domestic violence and protect all family members impacted through the development of a state of the art website that provides information and support. The County Executive’s Task Force to Prevent Family Violence is a collaboration of all County agencies (Office of the Aging, County Attorney’s Office, County Executive’s Office, Department of Health Services, Social Services, District Attorney’s Office, Labor Licensing and Consumer Affairs, Legal Aid Society, Office of People with Disabilities, Office of Women’s Services, Police Department, Probation Department, Sheriff’s Office, Youth Bureau and the Administrative Judges Offices,) and the local nonprofit agencies in Suffolk County that work with victims and offenders. The Task Force has subcommittees that work extensively on action items to strengthen the provision of services and prevent domestic violence in all of its forms. The Children and Youth subcommittee, in conjunction with the Violence Prevention subcommittee, worked together to develop a website that is a one stop shop for all necessary information on agencies, services and pertinent resources to aid in the prevention of family violence.
