The Japanese Culture Club for Tweens & Teens began on September 5, 2018, with a mission to attract more of our community's youth by building on Anime and Manga club themes popular with this age group.?Attendees are introduced to a new?facet?of Japanese culture each week, such as language, cuisine, holidays, customs, and traditions?utilizing?interactive activities.?Special guests have enhanced this program, including chefs from?Benihana Sushi & Japanese Steakhouse?instructing students on sushi-rolling, and?Miwako?Patton from the Consulate of Japan, who?provided?a special screening of the anime movie?Pop in Q. The Japanese Culture Club serves to?showcase?another culture and advance diversity; it also introduces and promotes library services to the tweens and teens attending the program. The Japanese Culture Club is promoted at the branch and by our partners at the Shenandoah Middle School. To date, it has been the most popular and well-attended tween/teen program at our branch.?
