The Vision2Read Website is a public-facing website designed and created to provide county residents with a public-facing website that effectively promotes the Vision2Read campaign. The Vision2Read effort promotes reading and literacy programs, directing those who need assistance to literacy programs, encouraging members of the community to volunteer in literacy efforts, and raising overall awareness of the importance of literacy. Prior to the launch of the Vision2Read website California Standards Test results indicated that third graders our community were less proficient readers than in the rest of the state. One year after launching the Vision2Read Initiative, 3rd and 4th graders showed a marked improvement in their reading scores. During that year, thousands of books were distributed and read, and volunteers were connected to people who wanted to learn to read or who wanted to improve their reading skills.
