In an effort to attract new businesses and create more opportunities, the County of San Bernardino Economic Development Department (SBC ED) began considering strategies for attracting new industries, boosting the economy creating higher wage jobs, and improving efficiencies. This research revealed that we are positioned adjacent to the motion picture capital of the world, meaning that San Bernardino County is poised to maximize and capitalize on our unique and diverse geographic landscapes, to providing permitting and site selection services to the motion picture and film industries in an effort to draw these and associated business sectors to San Bernardino County. FilmSBC is an initiative developed by the SBC ED designed to showcase San Bernardino County commercial production filming assets, provide site selection and permitting assistance and market the County as a premier location for the motion picture industries. On December 4th, 2020, SBC ED became the official film office. The initiative is to establish “one-stop shop” for commercial production studios, photographers and students which aimed on creating consistency, developing industry partnerships, and utilizing internal resources in a fiscally-responsible and business-like manner allowing the county to improve County government operations as well as create, maintain and grow jobs and economic value.
