An official sample ballot booklet is an essential tool to help voters make their voice heard in the democratic process. The redesign of official sample booklets and other election materials was created as a result of a need to offer user-friendly and easy-to-understand voting instructions. The Department’s decision arose from the commitment to promote the accessibility, integrity, accuracy of information through service of the utmost quality to voters of all backgrounds and language preferences by using emerging best practices in civic design and the Department’s technology resources. The outcome of this project was a complete success since the redesign was first implemented during the 2014 elections and it was welcomed by all stakeholders.
