The Richland County Transportation Study was a comprehensive community-based effort undertaken to analyze the county’s current and future transportation needs. The Richland County Transportation Study Commission, a 39-member commission made up of community leaders, transportation experts, and volunteers from throughout the Central Midlands Region, was appointed by County Council in 2006 and charged with developing a long-term plan to improve the county’s multi-modal transportation network. After an exhaustive, 18-month process, the Richland County Transportation Study was submitted to the County Council in 2008. To date, the Richland County Transportation Study is the first and only comprehensive countywide, multi-modal study of the county’s transportation network that has been completed.
