Pothole Repair HotlineHinds County, MississippiAbstract:The Hinds County, Mississippi Public Works Department offered a new service to Hinds County residents in 2008 which allows citizens to call the Public Works Department and report potholes. We determined there was a need for a program where citizens could report potholes at any time in order for the pothole to be repaired in a timely manner. The dedicated pothole repair telephone line is available twenty-four (24) hours a day. Citizensâ calls are monitored from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm by an administrative assistant and at all other times by an answering service. The pothole repair hotline addresses potholes in the unincorporated (rural) areas of Hinds County. The pothole repair hotline enhances the level of citizen participation in informing the Public Works Department of potholes that need to be repaired in the county road system. Our goal is to repair a pothole in three (3) working days. We feel by calling the citizen back and informing them of the status of the repair request improves constituent service. The pothole repair hotline improves the delivery of services to the citizens of Hinds County, MS. Contact:Carl Frelix, Public Works Director900 E.
