The mission of the Maricopa County Air Quality Department (MCAQD) is to improve the air of Maricopa County, so customers, residents, and visitors can live, work, and play in a healthy environment. MCAQD develops substantive policy statements (SPSs) and standard operating procedures (SOPSs) to provide program statements and direction consistent with our statutory authority, mission, and values. These documents define what is acceptable to ensure program success, uniformity, and consistency in decision-making and operational procedures and demonstrate that MCAQD is being operated in an efficient, professional, and consistent manner.The Policies Project was established to review existing policy and procedure documents to determine whether they were currently valid expressions of MCAQD policy, develop new policy and procedure documents, compile a listing of currently approved documents, and ensure that all approved policy documents are available to staff and, when appropriate, are publicly accessible.
