Year: 2010

Arizona House Bill 2210 went into effect on September 26th, 2008 which enables the Arizona Department of Public Safety to place mobile photo radar vans across the state of Arizona. DPS contracted with a vendor to place these fixed cameras and mobile vans at various locations. Violations cited under the new photo enforcement program are different than classic violations in a few ways including the following: the program is designed to resolve as many of the photo enforcement violations out of court as possible. If the driver, after receiving notification, chooses to pay the fine, the citation never goes to the court. Otherwise, the violations are sent to the appropriate Justice Court. Whether settled in or out of court, there are no points given for violations cited under this program. The fine amounts are slightly different than the non-photo enforcement version these violations, and the funds then get distributed to different agencies.
