Year: 2011

Partner/Sponsor Cross-Promotions target arts and community-based organizations in support of library programs, offering mutual benefit and connections for increased collaboration. Unlike previous efforts when we funded our own incentives or worked with one other organization, using the Partner/Sponsor Cross-Promotions strategy San Diego County Library staff solicited multiple local arts and events organizations. This is not the typical hat-in-hand approach to getting prizes for library programs. It’s a much more targeted approach for mutual benefit – a smart strategy in these times, particularly when leveraging resources becomes critical to survival, especially for some arts organizations. SDCL used the prize tickets to promote the organizations’ events for SDCL’s customers who frequent the 33 branches and 2 bookmobiles. The program was a huge success, garnering many sponsorships and potential for meaningful partnerships in the future. SDCL listed sponsoring organizations on all promotions and the Winter reading Challenge webpage has links to sponsors and their upcoming events. Sponsors got in-branch promotions as the ticket prizes were featured and given away during multiple weekly drawings. Partner/Sponsor Cross-Promotions fosters intelligent stewardship and leveraging f resources to benefit County residents. Ultimately, the mutual benefit inherent in this program strengthens the fabric of communities and community-based networks in service to taxpayers.
