Chesterfield County Public Library (CCPL) and Chesterfield County Public Schools worked together to schedule an “Open House for Student Success” back-to-school night for schoolchildren. Library staff members gave tours and demonstrations, distributed brochures to help parents make the most of their public libraries, issued fine amnesty cards, and worked to inform parents and students of ways the library can help them succeed. We worked closely with school officials; teachers, principles and school librarians were present at the event to make parents feel comfortable, demonstrate resources, and cement our partnership. 1,717 people attended the event.
