The OC Stories project is a one stop location for the digital history of Orange County. OC Stories provides access to online digital images and digitally recorded stories that make Orange County’s history come alive. The goal of OC Stories was to preserve Orange County’s unique history, while fostering connection, research, and a sense of community. Collecting this information about our historical roots brings people and communities together. It provides a searchable database which enables students, researchers, genealogists and history lovers to connect to the rich history of Orange County through the library system. Since its inception in May 2014, over 3,000 images and video recordings have been uploaded onto the OC Stories website (www.ocstories.org) and the website has received over 8,700 hits. This project benefits our community by providing a technological and generational bridge for connecting and engaging with each other. Preserving Orange County's cultural memory teaches people about their local history and inspires them to play a role in the County's future after discovering the rich and varied accomplishments of our shared past.
