The OC Parks Archery Range at Mile Square Regional Park opened in late 2013 and provides a world-class facility for to residents of Orange County. While the range quickly proved popular with experienced archers, there were limited opportunities for newcomers to experience the sport for the first time. As the level of interest in archery increased due to popular television shows and movies, OC Parks used this opportunity to introduce new people to the sport by creating the OC Parks Archery Program. The OC Parks Archery Program introduces individuals to this exciting sport by offering lessons and loaning equipment free of charge to participants. The no-cost aspect of this program is important since archery equipment is expensive and Orange County does not have retailers that loan out these equipment. As a result of the OC Parks Archery Program, approximately 200 individuals were introduced to this sport in 2014.
