In 2014, the Oakland County Clerk’s Office began a program to reduce or waive fees to obtain vital records for residents facing financial hardship or other crises. To qualify, a resident must only present a letter from a participating agency that states the individual is facing hardship. Each participating agency must be registered with the Clerk’s Office. The streamlined and easy to navigate process is the first of its kind at the County level in the State of Michigan.
