The Foundation for the Society of Human Resource Management suggests that “employees get about 90 days to prove themselves in a new job. The faster new hires feel welcome and prepared for their jobs, the faster they will be able to successfully contribute to the firm’s mission.” In July 2015, the Maricopa County Ryan White Part A (RWPA) Program developed a New Provider Staff Checklist and Onboarding process to provide a clear, concise, and standardized system for onboarding new agencies and their staff to the RWPA Program. As part of the new process, there is a standard welcome packet which includes 1) essential information, 2) a checklist of required trainings and activities, and 3) a proactive monitoring schedule to prevent the development of contract non-compliance patterns among new staff. The initial pilot of the program was tested at four newly contracted agencies and has decreased the onboarding time frame from an estimated 1-year period to 90 days. The new process increases both transparency around requirements and accountability for the RWPA Program and the new Provider staff.
