2014 NACo Achievement Award Winner

Macomb County, Mich., MI

About the Program

Category: Health (Best in Category)

Year: 2014

Faced with the retirement of a statewide system for conducting food service inspections, Macomb County Information Technology developed software that enabled the county’s Environmental Health Department to be more efficient while in the field. By developing robust mobile technology, food service inspectors have access to a more streamlined and effective system for processing inspection reports and recommendations; approving food service licenses; conducting routine follow-up; and processing complaints. As a result, significant savings have been realized.
