The Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) implemented the MDAD MCC 7040 Program for Maintenance Construction (“The Program”) in March 2014. To date and at the third anniversary of the start of the program, MDAD has awarded $12.8 million in contracts to local small businesses under the program. Of this $12.8 million, MDAD has issued nearly $9.7 million in total work orders to the several construction trades of which $7.8 million has been paid to date. Participating contractors must respond to priority and emergency maintenance calls 24 hours per day, seven days a week; meet stringent work experience, licensing and security requirements and be certified as SBECs firms.
