Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) maintains over 2,500 miles of roadways and associated assets. These roadways and assets are constantly facing degrading factors that shorten their structural and functional use. To maintain a certain service level across all assets MCDOT performs a yearly condition assessment. The assessment process that was initially developed included many labor-intensive processes that prevented timely analysis and reporting. Upon review of the initial process MCDOT’s Asset Program branch collaborated with Maricopa County Office of Technology’s GIS team to develop a yearly assessment program that would allow for quick analysis and detailed reporting.
