Driving or walking by scans the license plates on vehicles parked in DTPW facilities. The Parking Enforcement Specialists receives a real time response indicating whether parking was paid for each of the vehicles. The technology also includes the identification of expired tags and stolen vehicles/plates. Any citation is then issued from the handheld device which performs a second check forpayment. The Parking Enforcement Specialists were trained in the use of both the in-vehicle and handheld devices processes.
