Leon County has a long history of promoting citizen involvement to guide policy and shape our community. Events such as the NACo Award-winning Club of Honest Citizens and Citizen Engagement Series drive the County’s continuous effort to maintain sustained citizen engagement and involvement by building relationship between citizens and their county government. In 2016, Leon County created a new Library Lecture Series to further enhance citizen engagement by providing opportunities to interact with local and national leaders on topics that really matter in our community. The Library Lecture Series features diverse speakers and topics that engage and inspire, appealing to interests of all citizens. The Library Lecture Series was implemented at only a nominal cost to the County and has been tremendously successful, with five lectures on a variety of topics hosted to date, attended by more than 300 citizens.
