Building upon the successes of past digital citizen engagement initiatives, Leon County launched its mobile website in September 2014, bridging the gap between its NACo Achievement Award-winning website overhaul and mobile app deployment. The mobile website allows Leon County residents to access a wealth of immediately important information about public services as well as contact information for elected officials. The services now available on the mobile website allow staff to be more responsive to the needs of residents, in turn fostering increased citizen engagement. As of April 2016, with the introduction of the mobile website and its integration with the “Citizens Connect” mobile application, the County has received nearly 4,000 requests for services through its various mobile platforms. Increased use of the County’s digital communication platforms is a testament to the Board of County Commissioners’ commitment to citizen engagement and Leon County’s core practice of generating meaningful, relevant interactions with citizens.
