Initiated by the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, Culture Shock Miamiâs newly developed and launched iPhone/iTouch application is designed to expose the next generation of art audiences to local art and culture by increasing Culture Shock Miamiâs brand recognition, ticket sales and e-subscribers within its target audience of high school and college aged students ages 13-22. Available free of charge through the Apple iTunes store, the application delivers direct and up-to-the-minute event information and ticket availability alerts to students via their iTouch or iPhone. This system practically eliminates the need to search for arts events on the Internet, delivering program details, content and ticket availability immediately to the prospective ticket buyer. Moreover, this new application enhances and extends the versatility of the already highly popular web site www.cultureshockmiami.com by supplying eligible students with customized access that continuously promotes and facilitates $5 ticket purchases to a wide variety of live cultural experiences. In addition, the application offers Miami-Dade Countyâs performing arts organizations and museums a cost-free marketing vehicle to sell available seats and/or admissions, and to broadcast performance news and behind-the-scenes video footage.
